How “realized savings” is measured
Before the first optimization run, TierPilot snapshots your baseline: current storage class distribution priced at current AWS rates. Each month we compute what that same data would have cost at the baseline distribution versus what it actually cost — net of all retrieval fees, transition request costs, and minimum-duration charges incurred by our moves. You're billed a share of the difference. The full calculation is itemized in your monthly savings ledger, and the underlying numbers are verifiable against your own Cost and Usage Report.
